ประวัติศาสตร์เมืองสุรินทร์(History of Surin)

          เนื้อหาในส่วนนี้นำเสนอเกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์ของจังหวัดสุรินทร์ โดยเริ่มจากชาวกวยช่วยกันจับช้างเผือกส่งกลับคืนสู่กรุงศรีอยุธยา และได้รับความดีความชอบตั้งเป็นบ้านเมือง การปฏิรูปการปกครองมาเป็นระบบเทศาภิบาลและระบอบประชาธิปไตยตามลำดับ นอกจากนี้ยังมีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับประวัติศาสตร์ด้านเศรษฐกิจ สังคม ประชากร และการศึกษา ในการจัดแสดงได้จำลองภาพเหตุการณ์สำคัญในประวัติศาสตร์เมืองสุรินทร์ เช่น การจับช้างเผือก การเดินรถไฟมาถึงจังหวัดสุรินทร์ สภาพตลาดการค้าในยุคแรกๆ สภาพการศึกษาในอดีต เพื่อให้ผู้ชมสามารถซึมซับเรื่องราวทางประวัติศาสตร์ของเมืองสุรินทร์ในอดีตจนมาเป็นจังหวัดสุรินทร์ปัจจุบันได้อย่างชัดเจนขึ้น

History of Surin

          Displays in this section illustrate the history of Surin province. One story describes how the Kuay people caught a white elephant that had escaped from the Royal Palace in Ayutthaya – because of this feat, the village was promoted to town status. The town later became the seat of the lieutenant governor, as part of the country’s move to democracy. Exhibits also depict the history of local economics, social customs, population and education. Models of important events in the history of Surin are displayed: the catching of the white elephant, the train to Surin province, and the first market. These models give visitors a sense of the history of Surin province from ancient times to the present.
