วัดเขาเหลือ

          วัดเขาเหลือ ตั้งอยู่ที่ตำบลหน้าเมือง อำเภอเมืองราชบุรี จังหวัดราชบุรี เป็นศาสนสถานเก่าแก่สมัยอยุธยาตอนปลาย – รัตนโกสินทร์ตอนต้น

          สิ่งสำคัญคือ  วิหารแกลบ ลักษณะเป็นอาคารก่ออิฐถือปูนตั้งแต่ส่วนฐานจนถึงหลังคา มีมุขหน้า-หลัง ด้านหน้ามีประตูตรงกลาง ๑ ประตู ด้านหลังเป็นผนังทึบ ด้านข้างมีซุ้มหน้าต่างด้านละ ๓ ซุ้ม  มีลวดลายปูนปั้นประดับ ฐานวิหารอ่อนโค้งแบบท้องเรือสำเภา อันเป็นลักษณะเฉพาะของสถาปัตยกรรมสมัยอยุธยาตอนปลาย ภายในวิหารประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปหินทรายสมัยอยุธยา มีจิตรกรรมฝาผนังภาพพุทธประวัติและเทพชุมชุมหน้าตาและเครื่องแต่งกายคล้ายชาวต่างชาติ ด้านหลังวิหารแกลบมีเจดีย์ย่อมุมไม้สิบสอง ก่ออิฐถือปูน ขนาดค่อนข้างใหญ่ สมัยอยุธยาตอนปลาย

          กรมศิลปากรประกาศขึ้นทะเบียนโบราณสถานวัดเขาเหลือ ในราชกิจจานุเบกษา เล่ม ๑๑๓

Wat Khao Luae

          Wat Khao Luae is an old temple of late Ayutthaya – early Rattanakosin periods located in Na Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Ratchaburi District, Ratchaburi Province.

          The important historical site of Wat Khao Luea is Vihara Klaep, a building made of brick from the base to the roof, with porches on the front and the back. There is only one entrance on the front porch, whereas the back porch is a solid wall. Three window arches, decorated with stucco sculptures, are installed on each side of the vihara. The base of the vihara is curved like the hull of a junk, which is a typical characteristic of late Ayutthaya period architecture. Inside the vihara is a sandstone Buddha image from the Ayutthaya period. There are mural paintings of the Buddha’s life events and the assembly of devas (heavenly beings) whose facial features and clothing are similar to those of foreigners. Behind Vihara Klaep is a large late-Ayutthaya-style chedi made of brick and mortar with twelve indented corners.

          The Fine Arts Department announced the registration of Wat Khao Luae as an ancient monument in the Royal Gazette, Volume 113, Special Part 50, dated 18th December 1996.
